A little while back, we made a bunch of confetti balloon dogs from our deep love of confetti (and dogs!). One of our team members posited whether or not it was possible to make a giant balloon dog — and the crafting team accepted the challenge! Read on for the how-to for this surprisingly simple DIY!
All you need for this DIY are a few XL long balloons, confetti, and a hand pump. Make one for your pup’s birthday! Or for your favorite dog lover! There was ooh-ing and ahh-ing in the studio the whole day — so it’s sure to be a hit!
Materials Needed: 660Q clear balloons, Best Confetti Ever, balloon hand pump
Step 1: Stretch the mouth of a clear 660Q balloon and insert confetti until the length of the uninflated balloon is filled with confetti. Repeat with four more balloons.
Step 2: Using a balloon hand pump, inflate three balloons to 38” in length and two to 33” in length. Let out some air to release some of the tension and then knot. You should be able to squish the balloon easily between your fingers.
Step 3: Find the midpoint of a 38” balloon, cinch the center, and then twist a few times. Then, tie both ends of the balloon together. Repeat with the other 38” balloons. These oval balloons will be the ears, front legs, and hind legs of the balloon dog.
Step 4: Measure 19” down the length of a 33” balloon, cinch that point, and twist a few times. Then tie one of the oval balloons to the cinched area of the 33” balloon. This will be the head and ears of the balloons dog. Repeat for the other 33” balloon with another oval balloon to make the body, legs, and tail of the balloon dog.
Step 5: Tie the 14” section of one of the 33” balloons to the 19” section of the other 33” balloon to connect the neck and body of the balloon dog.
Step 6: Tie the remaining oval balloon to the neck/body junction for the balloon dog’s front legs. Twist the balloons to tighten the connection points if needed. You’re all done!
